With player sign-ups opening on Monday, 3rd February, 2020, we have several announcements with updates for the 2020 season.
2020 Season Fees
Season fees in the UK will remain the same for the third year running - £90 (with an optional £3 donation to the 2020 QPL Charity included). The price in euros for the 2020 season will be €105 (with an optional €5 donation to the 2020 QPL Charity included).
After significant player feedback, we are pleased to announce that players who already have kit from previous seasons for their 2020 team will only pay £65, and will be permitted to play in older kit during the 2020 season. The kit must be from the same team, but can be from any previous QPL season.
Drafting Legacy Players
A major point of player feedback was that they had formed close bonds with teams that had chosen them in the draft, and that they’d love the option to put them as a preference so they could return in 2020. We’re pleased to announce that teams in a drafting system will now have the option to pre-select 10 of their former players from 2019, before the draft commences. This balances a retention of community spirit in the team, and growth over multiple years, as well as allowing for new talent to shine through.
Lille Géants
We were delighted to welcome the Lille Géants in our inaugural European division season last year. Moving into 2020, we have assessed that there is currently limited demand for a fifth team in the European division. Additionally, a four-team divisional structure has proven both enjoyable and economic in our UK divisions, with players reporting good feedback on having increased ability to attend a fixture without staying overnight. As a result, the Lille Géants will regrettably be placed on hiatus for the 2020 season. We will always leave open the possibility of reintroducing the Lille Géants, and indeed on creating new teams, in future years, and hope to see many of the wonderful 2019 Lille players representing other teams in the 2020 season.
